Dinah Sevilla

A clinical leader with a relentless focus on patient outcomes, Dinah Sevilla has transformed peritoneal dialysis care through innovation, precision, and deeply empathetic practice. With over 20 years of experience across multiple specialties, she brings a holistic, patient-centered approach to complex chronic care management.

As Head Nurse for Peritoneal Dialysis (PD), she identified a critical gap in home-based care: patients struggling with adherence and complications due to language barriers and limited understanding of procedures. In response, she developed culturally sensitive education models, including pictorial guides, demonstration videos, and individualized training sessions supported by interpreters. The impact has been transformative. Her unit achieved a peritonitis rate of just 0.07%, significantly outperforming the global benchmark of 0.40%, while maintaining zero incidents across key nursing safety indicators, including medication errors, falls, and catheter-related complications. These improvements have not only enhanced patient safety and confidence but have also reduced hospital admissions, emergency visits, and overall healthcare costs, demonstrating the value of nurse-led innovation in driving system efficiency.

Beyond clinical care, Dinah is a committed mentor, training nursing students, interns, and multicultural staff in best practices, cultural competence, and patient communication. Her leadership fosters a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and compassion within her team. At the heart of her work is a simple yet powerful philosophy: restoring hope. Whether supporting patients through chronic illness or guiding them toward successful kidney transplantation, she ensures that every individual feels seen, valued, and empowered in their care journey.

Her contributions have been recognised through multiple accolades, including the Nursing Excellence Award 2025, underscoring her impact on both patient outcomes and professional practice. Dinah Sevilla exemplifies how frontline nursing leadership can deliver measurable, scalable impact, improve lives while set new benchmarks in quality care.
